The snare drum from the TR-808 as a narrow Eurorack module. Tiny but it sounds awesome!
The TR-808 machines had been revised at some point in time, Roland had changed the noise circuit, so the revised machines have snare drums that sound darker but more realistic than earlier versions. the SD-808 follows the revised late version. With snappy and accent cranked up to the maximum the SD808 really smacks your eardrums!!!
The module has following parameters:
- LEVEL adjusts the output level of the module
- TONE. controls the timbre and also the tuning of the drum
- SNAPPY sets the amount of noise and simulates the snares (those metal strings below a real snare drum)
- ACCENT controls amount of the Accent-CV
If there´s no CV at the Accent jack the gate voltage will be sent to the Accent via a normalization. This gives you a powerful, direct sound without patching anything. It´s intensity can be controlled by the accent potentiometer and the overall volume with the level control,

Originally based in California and now operating from Thailand, Tiptop has been around for over a decade, providing some of the first effects in eurorack (Z5000), a whole line of 808 and 909 drum modules, clever sequencers and affordable cases. Their Z-DSP is probably one of the best effect modules available, with countless exchangeable cards.
