Product information "Teenage Engineering - EP-133 K.O.II"

The Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II is a sophisticated, feature-packed sampler with smart functionality in a handy format.

The Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator series included the PO-33 K.O., a micro-sampler with astonishing functionality in the smallest of spaces. With the EP-133 K.O. II, its sophisticated and versatile successor now enters the ring, ready to take on even larger opponents with its multi-functionality.
As with the PO-33 K.O., the motto is: turn everything into one instrument. Accordingly, a variety of sound sources can be turned into sound generators, whether it's everyday noises, your own voice, synthesizers, vinyl or the voice memo memory of your own smartphone.
The samples find their way into the device via the built-in microphone or the line input, which also has a built-in speaker for mobile use. A software sample tool also offers sample import via drag & drop. For storing sound sources, the EP-133 K.O. has a 64 MB memory that can be fed with up to 999 samples. Playback comprises up to six stereo voices (12 mono voices), which are filled with life via the newly developed sequencer. Up to 12 tracks are available for sample playback and MIDI applications (for controlling external devices). Nine projects with up to 80000 notes each can be saved. Each project consists of 4 groups (A, B, C, D) of 99 patterns, which can be set to bar lengths between 1 and 99 bars.
Conveniently, there are also four dedicated buttons (A,B.C.D) on the device interface for intuitive navigation to control the group functionality. The 12 black velocity-sensitive sample pads are reminiscent of the legendary MPC in their vintage look, offer polyphonic aftertouch and allow you to play your sounds chromatically as well as fire off samples. Just like the legend designed by Roger Linn, the EP-133 K.O. II also offers a multifunction fader on the lower left edge of the device. A total of 12 parameters are assignable and can be recorded and automated. On the effects side, six send and one master FX are available, as well as 12 punch-in FX 2.0 inspired by the Pocket Operator, which can be impressively staged via the pads thanks to their velocity features.
The "Instant Commit" feature speeds up the workflow for intuitive programming, which enables free or quantized sequencing with or without swing and offers a loop mode with length and slide parameters inspired by the OB-4 Speaker. Of course, (external) MIDI devices can also be looped and brought into the correct timing using Sync I/O. Switchable timing correction and sample slicing (live/automatic) are just as important as high-quality signal processing (32-bit internal signal flow, 24-bit AD-DA conversion). The Swedish sample specialist is powered either via the USB-C port or four standard AAA batteries.

Teenage Engineering

Stockholm-based Teenage Engineering design studio stole the show about a decade ago with the ultra-portable OP-1, now become a classic. Their line of pocket operators have made their products available for every pocket (pun intended) and their recent OP-Z provides now a plethora of connectivity and possibilities: CV/gate outs, wireless tethering to a mobile phone screen, sampling and maybe more to come.
