Velocity for Eurorack! The SSF Impulse Dynamics is an easy way to create dynamic transients in your Eurorack system.
Impulse Dynamics is a simple VCA module that can turn any signal into a gate. But the exciting thing is what the module lets you do with these gates.
Any signal can be used to drive the module. No matter what you use, be it a trigger or a cough, Impulse Dynamics turns it into a gate and a decay envelope. The Width parameter allows you to change the length of the gate and the envelope decay. The gate and the envelope are output at individual CV outputs, but are also (and this is where it gets exciting) passed on to the VCA section. However, not as a modulation signal, but as an input signal, the amplitude of which is changed by the VCA. The VCA can then be controlled by hand or any modulation signal. This means that you can change the amplitude of the gates or envelopes you have just generated in order to create dynamics, i.e. velocity. It is also possible to feed the external signal through the VCA in the traditional way, as Impulse Dynamics is also ideal as a high-quality audio VCA. Oh yes and a sample & hold is also included!
A simple module that allows you to create dynamic taps directly in the modular system.
Features:
- Converts any positive signal into a gate and decay envelope with variable length (0.1ms to 15s)
- Pulse/decay CV input for width
- Digital dynamic VCA for controlling the velocity and sync signal
- VCA CV input selectable via switch (Env, Ext In, Pulse)
- VCA level CV input with attenuator
- VCA level sample-and-hold output

Steady State Fate (SSF) is the instrument design outlet of Andrew Morelli. Whereas the WMD/SSF product line features simple and small-format modules, his newly self-released modules are getting a very positive reception.
