If one were to rip out the sculpting part of the SSL Fusion you’d find yourself left with the UltraViolet EQ. Thanks to SSL’s 500 series “lunchbox format” you’re now able to combine decades of analogue expertise into a unit large enough to hold in your hand.

The SSL Ultraviolet Stereo EQ  is a versatile 4-band equalizer. Inheriting the minimum-phase design from the SSL Fusion, the UltraViolet EQ boasts smooth, transparent operation alongside a classic SSL sonic signature.

The core functionality centers on a 4-band layout featuring high and low shelving EQ for broad tonal shaping. However, the true strength lies in the dual fully parametric mid-bands, giving you precise control over the oh-so-important midrange frequencies.

One of the most notable features is the 'Focus' mode, which allows you to zero in on specific frequencies. This mode extends the boost/cut range to +/-18 dB and tightens the Q for laser-focused sculpting of specific frequencies.

Rounding out the feature set is a high-pass filter (HPF) for low-end management and a dedicated output trim for adjusting levels post-EQ. If you ever wanted to lay your hands on that classic SSL sound this is really great way to do so without breaking the bank. This unit also make a great companion to the stereo G-Comp or other units in the 500 series, making it possible to assemble your own customized SSL channel-strip. Its hard to go wrong with a unit like this, these are tools that have stood the test of time after all :)
