Sputnik Audio's Spectral Processor gives you 16 bands for transforming the spectral domain.
Sputnik Modular's Spectral Processor is a filterbank of 16 bandpass filters tailored for a variety of spectral applications. You don't need a keen eye to see that this module is inspired by the Buchla 296. It differs from its predecessor in that the bandpass program control now features discrete transistor VCA's on all channels. The odd and even amp controls now have full attenuation capabilities, plus the added benefit of soft saturation beyond 60% travel, allowing for richer, more textured sounds.
In addition, the processor has expanded its functionality by allowing bandpass faders to control both EQ and program output levels. This is in contrast to its predecessor, where the faders only controlled EQ output levels. Central to the Spectral Processor is the programmable control of its 16 filters. The Program Control section allows you to sweep through each of the bands with variable bandwidth and amplitude. Local program inputs above each band provide direct control over the level of each filter. Spectrum transfer activates the corresponding odd- or even-band envelope follower to control the other, allowing dynamic interaction between odd- and even-band filters. This feature is useful in classic vocoder applications, allowing users to analyze and modulate the spectral density between two inputs, transferring dynamic energy from one to the other. The module provides a variety of summed outputs, whether pre-fader, EQ sum, or Program sum. Direct outputs are also provided for each bandpass filter, as well as an envelope follower that provides a dynamic control voltage of a specific band's energy content. Not a standard filter, this is a professional tool for spectral processing.
