Soma - Lyra-8 FX
- Order number: 180112
- Depth: 40
Lyra8-FX is a dual delay with cross-feedback and the unique possibility of self-modulation, meaning the effect is able to influence its own sample rate. On top of this, the module features a voltage controllable distortion. The sound of the Lyra8-FX is very organic. With the right patch, the module can not only create delays and distortion, but comb filter, chorus and other effects as well.
The Lyra8-FX is the effect section of Soma‘s acclaimed Lyra-8 Organismic Drone Synth, expanded with CV controls. Based on a through-hole circuit design (THT), avoiding SMD and crappy parts, the module will shine with authentic sound and give you a significant part of the mystical Lyra-8 sound!
It consists of a dual delay and distortion. Both effects provide a Dry/Wet potentiometer, enabling you to add just a touch of delay or distortion, or use the module as a sound-shaping tool.
The audio input provides an attenuator, which determines the volume of the signal to be processed.
The dual lo-fi delays feature knobs to set the delay time for each one separately. Delay times can also be voltage controlled, thanks to the common Delay Time CV input. Furthermore, it is possible to replace the external CV input by the delay output signal using the Self switch, to self-modulate the delay times. In both cases, the modulation depth can be adjusted independently for each delay.
The module provides a Feedback potentiometer which acts as a cross-feedback. Thanks to the Feedback CV input with inbuilt attenuator, the effect is voltage controllable.
With activated self-modulation and cross-feedback the module will create wild sound variations!
After the delay sections, a distortion with CV control of the drive, allows to beef up the sound or to destroy it if pushed to the maximum.
The final audio output is available at the Out jack, and there is an independent delay direct output.
Perfect for lo-fi delays, dark Karplus-strong synthesis, and crunchy, broken-speaker ambience, the Lyra8-FX is an excellent way to add grungy Soma charm to any Eurorack system.

Manual
Soma is Vlad Kreimer's "romantic engineering" endeavour into musical instrument design. While the Lyra-8 organismic synthesizer and the Ether wide-band receiver have already gained a bunch of adherents, the Pulsar-23 has created an unprecedented expectation.
