Seven Woods Audio - Space Station SST-206 (v3)
- Order number: 121041
- Depth: 163
After years it´s available again with just a few more units: the Ursa Major Space Station SST-206! A high-quality 24Bit DSP emulates the echo and reverb effects of the legendary Space Station from 1977 but also fetures a new algorithm called "room". The whole machine is housed in a flat case that looks like it´s own remote control.
No MIDI, no displays, no umpteen presets - just a few parameters and a great sound.
The Space Station SST-206 contains three different effect algorithms. SST echo and SST reverb are improved versions of the original SpaceStation algorithms with better milisecond resolution of decay time, higer parameter values and better converter resolution. The frequency range is limited to to 7kHz just like on the original; this is done with a steep low-pass filter because the SST-206 itself has a frequency range up to 22kHz. Those two effects allow you to create pure delays (withput feedback), echos or reverb.
Parameters: input level; dry level; echo delay; lf decay, hf decay, decay time; level of audition-delay pairs (see below) 1 2, 3 4, 5 6 and 7 8, audition delay pattern.
Besides that the unit contains a third, new algorithm called "room" which makes much heavier demands upon the DSP chip than does either of the SST programs. In contrast to the SST reverb program, room provides: Stereo input to the reverb algorithm so that left and right sources initially appear in true stereo. Absence of time modulation of delays and the attendant pitch shift and noise. Flat frequency response to 22kHz unless altered with the lf decay and hf decay controls. Adjustable size. Maximum decay time several minutes. 24 bit I/O and processing. Independent pre delay control. Early reflections can be suppressed if desired, can be delayed and their pattern extended. Instead of the audition delays there are the early reflections (ERs) that´s lengths can be selected in 16 steps with the ER length rotary switch.
