Decision Trees! Now also in Eurorack! Robaux’s DCS3is decision tree based rhythm and random gate generator.
A Decision Tree is a common resource in the field of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. And now, it is available for your Eurorack!
The DCSN3 takes an incoming gate/trigger signal and directs it to one of three primary outputs, and from there to one of three sub-outputs. This intricate routing system generates unpredictable rhythms. With a single knob control, you can find the balance between fully chaotic outcomes and repetitive 16-step looped patterns.
The simplistic design covers the hidden functionality with a number of operation modes. Depending on mode of operation, one or more Gate outs are active on each branch layer aka mono- or polyphonic triggers. Another Latch mode allows you to sustain the signal until the next gate, which can be paired with a multi-mode filter to select various filter types. This function enables you to alternate between a diverse range of waveforms, adding a layer of complexity to your soundscapes.
Beyond its random gate generation capabilities, the DCSN3 from Robaux can also function as a traditional clock divider in one of three distinct types. It can split the signal from 1/2 to 1/16 across the top four outputs and drives a continuous sequence through the lower eight.
The DCSN3 is an inexpensive way to transform simplicity into complex, evolving patterns, making it an ideal addition to any setup.
