Noise Engineering - Basimilus Iteritas Alia
- Order number: 230594
- Depth: 22
The Basimilus Iteritas Alia is based on the Alia platform and sounds just like the infamous Noise Engineering classic!
Like Noise Engineering's Versio and Legio modules, the Alia series is a modular platform. The point is variety, thanks to interchangeable firmware and thus interchangeable sound. All you have to do is connect your module to your computer via USB cable to switch between different firmwares for free. There are of course panels and overlays to make the front panel match the loaded module! Alia focuses on oscillators and immediately includes two classics from Noise Engineering's lineup.
The Basimilus Iteritas Alter needs no explanation, but gets a love letter from me!
The sound generation is based on additive and FM synthesis with 6 oscillators. It can be an incredibly versatile and powerful voice for percussive sounds but serves you just as well with FM bells and basses.
Basimilus Iterita Alia is based on this module and sounds largely the same. As a full-fledged voice, there is an AD envelope, which now has its own CV output! The attack parameter is bipolar and has noise that can be mixed in when turned counterclockwise (CCW). Furthermore, there are waveshaping, and wavefolding, as well as three algorithms selectable by switch. The algorithms vary in suitability for different tasks, covering everything from kicks, snares, and metallic FM sounds. The Spread and Harmonic parameters control the frequency and level of the additive oscillators.
Basimilus Iterita's full potential unfolds with the inclusion of many cleverly chosen control voltages. For instance, it is possible to tickle a full drum kit out of this one module!
