ST·FONT is a New Stereo Filter from Nano Modules That Packs Some Spatial Tricks Up Its Sleeve.
ST·FONT is a stereo filter module that builds on the core of NANO Modules' original FONT module. The new dual-core design of the ST version houses two identical filter circuits delivering independent processing for left and right channels. There’s also an innovative span control system for some deep stereo manipulation.
Each section contains three classic filter responses - low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass - with smooth morphing between modes. The module's sound goes from subtle to extreme thanks to its two resonance modes. MILD gives you smooth, musical filtering while WILD pushes into more aggressive territory with heavy distortion and screaming feedback.
One quite interesting feature of the ST FONT is its three span controls that let you offset frequency, resonance, and filter mode between channels. This opens up a whole little world of dynamic stereo movement that goes way beyond basic panning - imagine frequencies spreading apart while resonances dance independently across the stereo field.
The built-in VCA section can add some pleasant warmth through soft clipping and provides dynamic control over levels. CV inputs with attenuverters for all major parameters plus voltage control over the span settings makes it possible to put everything in motion, as it should be. When pushed into self-oscillation, it tracks 1V/oct over 4-5 octaves, effectively becoming a dual oscillator. If you happen to be in the market for a new stereo filter, ST FONT should be on your list of candidates — a solid filter with a nice take on stereo field manipulation.
