Characterful sounding Diode Ladder VCF DIY kit from mki x es.EDU. The very comprehensive manual will guide you through the building process.
Erica Synths and Moritz Klein have developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you’ll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, they want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice they’ve made and how it impacts the finished module.
This kit will teach you how to build your very own VCF. Along the way you will learn a lot about how filters, i.e. integral components of any synth, work. All necessary parts are included. Diode ladders can be found quite often in synthesizers. They are easy to build and shine with inherent quirkyness and saturation.
Please note: The do-it-yourself kit includes all the parts necessary to build this module. This is beginners kit, you need very few prior experience and basic hand tools (small screwdriver, soldering iron, etc.). We cannot assist with assembling/soldering the kit and take no responsibility if the kit does not work after self-assembly.
Erica Synths from Riga (Latvia) started with a whole line of Polivoks module clones about a decade ago. A lot has happened ever since and they have now one of the largest module portfolios in the eurorack world, all featuring their signature black front plates.
