Joranalogue - Bias 2
- Order number: 230345
- Depth: 40
Joranalogue's Bias 2 is a scale/offset module in 2HP. A very precise one, designed to "convert" between different voltage formats (0-5V, 0-10V, -5 to +5V).
To precisely compensate for voltage differences Joranalogue have designed the tiny Bias 2. The module can multiply (*2/+6db) or divide (/2/-6db) and offset voltages by +/-5V. These function(s) are of use more often than you might think. Examples are Pamela's (New/Pro) Workout, which "only" outputs 0-5V or the infamous Makenoise Maths envelopes with 0-10V, which overdrive some VCAs.
There are two sections in Bias 2, each with two inputs and two outputs. At the top, one of the inputs carries a normalized +5V voltage and one of the outputs reduces the signal by exactly 50% (-6db, /2).
The bottom section is basically the reverse with a -5V normalization and a *2/+6db output.
Clever patching results in the above applications or a dual unity gain mixer or simply a constant voltage source. The tolerances and the influence on the signal were pushed to a minimum in the range below 1mv. Or in other words, accurate to three decimal places.
Features:
- Precision scaler/offset
- Interface for common Eurorack voltages: -5 to +5V, 0 to +5V and 0 to 10V
- Upper part has normaled +5V reference output and ÷2 attenuated output, lower part has normaled -5V output and ×2 gain output
- Precise gain, very low offset, noise and distortion, flat frequency response up to 20 kHz: suitable for any signal
