The combination of Buchla and Serge style makes the Intellijel Bifold Wavefolder a powerful sound design tool.
The Intellijel Bifold combines two types of wavefolders, that together with a voltage-controllable crossfader and plenty of CV inputs and normalizations allow for a variety of sound bending. Bifold takes these two circuits and combines them with a crossfader that allows you to mix the two signals via potentiometer or CV.
One section (P) is based on parallel deadband folding from Buchla synthesizers. The other section (S), on the other hand, is based on the Serial Folding circuit from Serge instruments. Both sound quite unique and are in themselves a solid basis for folding exercises.
Bifold takes these two circuits and combines them with a crossfader that allows you to mix the two signals via potentiometer or CV. Of course, both sections also have their own audio input and output, making it possible to mix different waves, feedback and serial connections!
Bifold also has a phase switch, which inverts one of the two sections. If you now modulate the crossfader with an audio signal, you get ring modulation!
It is also very exciting to patch the two sections into each other and then listen to the mix. The results are noise, glitches and everything in between.
Bifold never ceases to surprise and is well worth a closer look!

Danjel van Tijn started in eurorack with the Mind Meld, an expander for the Livewire Vulcan Modulator. Seeing the potential of eurorack, Danjiel quit his day job at a big corporation and founded Intellijel, which rapidly become a mainstay in the modular, with collaborations with Canadian fellow engineers such as: Cylonix, David G. Nixon or AAS (known for their physical modelling plug-ins). By now Intellijel has one of the most extensive catalogs in eurorack.
