Intellijel Designs - 7U Case (104 HP / TPS80W MAX)
- Order number: 170288
Intellijel’s aluminum cabinets are sturdy, yet lightweight. They come equipped with reliable, high-performance power supplies.
The 7U Case offered here features two 3 U rows and a 1 U row with 104 HP each. The latter can be filled with all kinds of space-saving utility modules, for instance a MIDI CV converter, a quad attenuator and / or a digital reverb processor. The integrated power supply TPS80W MAX delivers 3 A at +12 V and -12 V as well as 1.5 A at +5 V. Thanks to a carrying handle and a solid lid, the 7U case is perfect for mobile setups.
The 7U Case is completely made of aluminum. It offers a 1 U row and two 3 U rows for housing modules. Each is 104 HP wide. Threaded inserts allow the user to mount circuits with standard M3 screws. (No sliding nuts!) While transporting the cabinet, a lid protects the built-in module’s front panels. It is deep enough to close the case with cables patched in. A handle allows the user to easily carry the modular system. Retractable feet make it possible to use the cabinet in two different angles. Of course, it is also possible to lay the case flat on a table. For powering modules, a bus board, model TPS80W MAX, is built-in. Up to 20 modules can be connected. The circuit shines with high stability and precision plus it emits only very little noise. For feeding the bus board, Intellijel’s 7U case comes with a Meanwell Power Brick. It gets connected via a socket on the cabinet’s back. Additionally, there is an on / off switch. By adding the module Power Entry 1U to the system, DC input and control element can be relocated to the front. Other connectors comprise two audio inputs and outputs, a MIDI DIN trio plus a USB MIDI port. They can be used with the help of Intellijel’s Audio I/O 1U and µMIDI 1U modules.
The TPS80W MAX offers the following tech specs:
- 3 A at +12 V
- 3 A at -12 V
- 1.5 A at +5 V
The weight of the 7U case, including lid and power supply, is approximately four kilograms. (The weight given below refers to case, accessories and packaging material.)

Danjel van Tijn started in eurorack with the Mind Meld, an expander for the Livewire Vulcan Modulator. Seeing the potential of eurorack, Danjiel quit his day job at a big corporation and founded Intellijel, which rapidly become a mainstay in the modular, with collaborations with Canadian fellow engineers such as: Cylonix, David G. Nixon or AAS (known for their physical modelling plug-ins). By now Intellijel has one of the most extensive catalogs in eurorack.
