Light-Sensitive Midi Controller
IO-Lights is a MIDI controller that controls MIDI CC or MIDI note messages via ambient light. MIDI notes can also be sent to IO-Lights, which are then displayed as light by the 12 LEDs on the device. The incoming brightness range can be adjusted manually or automatically to match the ambient light, and the outgoing pitch range can be set in the web application. Additionally, the internal note quantization can be configured in the web app to output notes in a specific scale (e.g. major, minor, chromatic, etc.). When clock synchronization is disabled, the minimum and maximum note lengths can be adjusted. Two touch-sensitive keys can be used to select MIDI output mode (key A) and LED mode (key B). In addition, the keys can be used to trigger fixed notes or control commands. The note and control numbers can be customized in the web application.
IO Lights @Instruments of Things
In Kiel, Instruments of Things produce interfaces between people and modular systems. The sensors detect movements and generate wireless control voltages for the Eurorack.
