From voltage to speech is the motto of the Grendel Formant Filter, which features a number of improvements in version 2.2.
Compared to the initial release in 2012, version 2.0 introduced updated CV-modulation options. The four bandpass on/off knobs have been "combined" into one knob (Size) that moves the filters in parallel and thus controls how wide the "mouth" of the formant filter opens. Revision 2.2 now gives the option to choose between Mode 1 (Original) and Mode 2 (with parallel Lowpass-Filter for clener bottom end).
The original three articulators remain grouped into articulators X and Y, which are based on the IPA Vowel Chart ("Vowel Trapezium"). The general tone of the module also received an upgrade. Good voweling results can be achieved by using LFO, Envelope Generator, MIDI-CV Converter or Analog Joystick Controller at the CV inputs.
