G-Storm Electro - JP6 VCF
- Order number: 220040
- Depth: 22
Once again G-Storm Electro from Oklahoma City makes a gem from Roland filter history available in Eurorack format. This time it's the turn of the Jupiter 6 filter, which is equipped with a 4-pole lowpass or highpass filter as well as a two-pole bandpass filter.
At the time of its release, this flagship-synth was initially overshadowed by its two siblings Jupiter 4 and 8, which it had succeeded in 1983. It "owed" this primarily to its sonic flexibility. In contrast to the other members of the Jupiter family, the Jupiter 6 had highpass and bandpass filters in addition to lowpass filters, which sounded new and unusual at the time. While at that time they were associated with attributes such as "cold" and "metallic", this flexibility is nowadays highly appreciated.
In the Jupiter 6, four OTAa were used within a Roland IR3109 chip. Two 12dB SVF filters in series provide greater filter flexibility than those of the Jupiter 4 and 8 as they can work as 24dB Low- or Highpass or 12dB Bandpass filter. G-Storm's JP6 has the same functionality and is a faithful replica - both in terms of electronic parts/circuitry and sound.
