Frequency Central - System X Oscillator Black
- Order number: 130288
- Depth: 60
This analog oscillator, basing on the VCO from Roland's 100m system, has a big round belly and is full of euphony. No gadgets here but a extremely wide frequency range, lovely sync and a terrific general sound which stands out in the mix.
The VCO has individual outputs for sawtooth, pulse and triangle. While saw and pulse have a very rich sound full of harmonics, the latter produces a tremendous sub-bass.
Oscillator frequency is set coarse with the "range" pot and fine with the "pitch" control. There's a 1V/octave input and a nexponential CV input with attenuator.
The pulse width is set with the "manual" control and via CV. Compared to other VCO it sounds more dicreet as it ranges from 50/50 to 90/10 and not over the whole width range until sound cancellation. Super-wide modulations or ultra-narrow spikes are not possible but the VCO sounds awesome with the PWM at 50/50 (fully counterclockwise).
The System X VCO features oscillator synchrinosation which can be switched from soft sync (weak) and hard sync (strong). No matter what your choice is, the syncs both sound unbelievably good and cutting. Definiely different from a brassy Oberheim SEM sync.
