Dualkey is composed of two modulators, which can be used as A(H)D, A(S)R or looping envelopes. The circuits are activated by push-buttons or gate inputs. Length and shape of the envelopes can be adjusted via potentiometers. Additionally, there are CV inputs for modulations. At the end of decay respectively release phases, trigger voltages are generated, meaning it is possible to link both modulators. The same way, several Dualkeys can be daisy-chained. On top of all that, the module generates gate signals.
Although the Dualkey’s envelopes seem to be identical, there is an important difference between them: While the modulator on the left side of the front panel features a logarithmic decay respectively release phase, the right-hand side offers a linear characteristic. Otherwise both circuits are identical. Each modulator features a potentiometer for altering the envelope shape. In detail, users can blend between ascending saw tooth, triangle respectively trapezoid and descending saw tooth. The length of attack, release and a possible hold phase is determined by the Time potentiometer. Additionally, there is a Time switch for choosing between three control ranges. (Total span: One millisecond to one minute.) The maximum envelope output level of +10 V can be dampened by a level control. Thanks to CV inputs, it is possible to modulate shape and time parameters. The potentiometers serve as attenuators in this case.
The envelopes can be activated via trigger respectively gate inputs (Key) or push-buttons.Each modulator offers three modes of operation. Besides envelope outputs, the module features trigger (End-Out) and gate connectors (Key-Out).
Modes of operation:
Shot: The envelope runs in A(H)D mode. The lengh of attack, hold and decay phases is determined by the Time control elements. After completing the decay section, a trigger signal is emitted at the End-Out connector. The Key Out emits a gate signal as long as the envelope is active.
Gate: The envelope runs in A(S)R mode. Attack and release lengths are determined by the Time control elements. The sustain phase stays active as long as there is a signal present at the gate input. After completing the release section, a trigger signal is emitted at the End-Out connector. The Key-Out connector mirrors incoming gate signals.
Loop: Similar to the A(H)D mode, but here the envelope is looped as long as a gate signal is present at the gate input. The Key-Out connector mirrors incoming gate signals.
