The simulation of reverb was realized early on with springs and resonating plates of incredible size. Early forms of echo (delay) worked with circular belt loops. Later, more and more complex digital circuits took over the creation of these effects. However, the charm of the old effect techniques has led to a revival that even with digital equipment and software this sound is reproduced. But hardware, of course, remains unique.
