By using the three-position switch you can limit the maximal number of steps to 2, 3 or 4 e.g. if you just want to alternate between two outputs. The input and the outputs are bi-directional, say interchangeable. This means it is possible to switch through four INputs and send them sequentially to one common OUTput.
With a trigger signal at the reset input you can reset the A-151 to the first stage.
