Doepfer A-100 Basissystem 3 LC9v Klangforschung PSU3
- Order number: 230431
Doepfer's A-100 Basis System 3 is a tribute to Dieter's beginnings and is ideal for seasoned veterans and newbies alike.
Dieter Doepfer's modules have defined the Eurorack standard and thus the diversity of today's modular synthesizers. Instead of unnecessary bells and whistles, the A-100 modules focus on a clear structure with one knob-per-function and reliable circuitry. As the oldest brand of Eurorack, the repertoire of Doepfer modules is a treasure trove of inspiring and well-built features.
The Basis System 3 combines a variety of useful Doepfer modules with old classics and contemporary developments. It's great for beginners who want to get to know the approach and versatility of Eurorack. However, System 3 is just as suitable for veterans of (Eurorack) synthesis who want to get back to basics and focus on the essentials.
The sound generation is based on two of the tried and tested A-110-1 standard VCOs. They are powerful, reliable and leave nothing to be desired with their two FM inputs. Naturally, frequency modulation in Complex VCO style is a natural choice here. Of course, this is not the only option, as there is the A-184-1 ring mod and the A-137-1 wave multiplier to give your oscillators the necessary harmonics.
There are also two excellent filters. The A-108 lowpass filter with all imaginable slopes from 6 to 48 dB and the A-121-2 with lowpass, bandpass, highpass and notch filters.
The various mixer modules (A-138b, A-138j, A-138s) allow you to combine several simple waves into a more complex one, or to collect your sounds in one place. There are also two solid VCAs (A-132-3, A-131), as well as two of the infamous A-180-2 multiples!
The System 3 offers plenty of modulation to add variety and complexity to your sound design! There's sample & hold from the A-184-1 and random waves with noise from the A-118 (also a classic!). Two voltage-controlled(!) LFOs from the newer A-147-4, as well as a versatile clock divider and sequential switch (A-160-2, A-151). The resulting triggers and gates can be plugged into one of the two envelopes A-140-2 or A-140 to control your filters, VCAs, or whatever. The A-171-2 replicates the Serge VCS and delivers so much more than just slewing!
The Basis System 3 uses a thoughtful combination of A-100 modules to create a cohesive and playable environment for beginners and pros alike!
This basic System 3 comes in an LC9 vintage case with a chic black leather look. You still have 104hp space for additional modules of your choice.
The power supply is provided by the reliable PSU3 from Doepfer.

Basis System 3 @Doepfer
WIth a long trajectory building synths, MIDI keyboards and designing bespoke devices for music pioneers Kraftwerk, Dieter Doepfer decided to design his own modular synthesizer in 1995 based on existing electrical and mechanical specifications of lab equipment he used during his years at university. The official presentation of the system at 1996 Frankfurt Musikmesse caught everyone by surprise and created lots of interest. After Doepfer published the specifications on his website, many instrument designers and engineers saw the potential of the new Eurorack format. Doepfer continues expanding their catalog of over 200 modules (and counting), operating from their modest offices in the outskirts of Munich.
