DivSkip — 4-Channel Trigger & Gate Processor, a compact multimode rhythm powerhouse!
DivSkip is a feature-packed and compact 4-channel trigger and gate processor. The main function centers around four independent channels, each capable of running one of eight different operation modes. These modes range from classic clock division to complex randomization, retrigger effects, speed changes, and custom rhythmic patterns. This means you can process triggers and gate signals in myriad ways, injecting life and variation into your sequences without needing a stack of separate modules.
What makes this module really great is its simple but easily accessible interface. LED rings provide real-time visual feedback, allowing you to see exactly what's happening on each channel at a glance. The immediate click-to-mute functionality and toggle switches offer great hands-on control, really nice for improvisation and live tweaking.
You also have the A/B outputs which open up even more possibilities. By patching these outputs back into other inputs or modules, you can layer different modes and effects, creating intricate and evolving rhythmic patterns. This module allows you to either just add subtle variations to a drum sequence or dive into full-on experimental territory. It’s all there, but without an infinite amount of information overwhelming you. It also makes for a really great companion device to other modules like clock utilities, trigger sequencers, logic modules, and LFOs.
If you've used modules like Mutable Instruments' Branches or the Music Thing Modular Turing Machine, you'll find that DivSkip brings together a lot of those functionalities in a single module. It's not about replacing those classics but offering a unified platform where you can layer complex rhythms without getting overloaded.
This is the first time DivKid and Making Sound Machines have teamed up, and they've created something that's both deep and user-friendly. It’s impressive just how much functionality they’ve managed to cram into just 8HP while still making it all so accessible. Look at it — it all looks so simple, right? This is one for the rhythm explorers out there — definitely worth a closer look!
