Noise Engineering's Confundo Funkidos — Four-Channel Rhythm Crossfader With Mutes, Algorithmically-derived Accents and Fills.
Eight years after the original Confundo Funkitus, its successor arrives with new enhanced capabilities for the rhythmically inclined. While the original Confundo Funkitus was already interesting, this new version adds smart accent generation and expanded fill capabilities without changing its immediacy.
Four channels, each with dual inputs, allow you to blend between different rhythmic patterns. The central slider smoothly morphs between your sequences while three distinct curve algorithms determine how they interact - from clean transitions to probability-based combinations.
The new accent system with its four output channels generates patterns by analyzing relationships between channels. These generate accents through three switchable algorithms: one creates emphasis when neighboring channels are silent, another responds to simultaneous triggers, and the third activates when adjacent channels fire together.
The "Burn" section now includes both a knob and CV input and is there to add some controlled chaos to your sequences. Turn the knob or send CV to redistribute triggers across channels, creating dynamic fills. If you push it beyond halfway, it starts influencing accent patterns too. Each channel includes a three-position mute switch - fully on, triggers-only (no accents), or fully muted.
Timing is crucial in rhythm processing. Confundo Funkidos standardizes incoming triggers to 5ms pulses and includes carefully tuned windows to maintain tight synchronization when combining multiple trigger sources. The accent outputs fire slightly ahead of triggers, ensuring modulation reaches its destination first.
The Confundo Funkidos offers rhythm manipulation tools that are both sophisticated and immediately useful - whether you're working with basic clock divisions or complex trigger patterns. A steady performer that delivers as promised.
