The VC-SC is a richly equipped stereo compressor featuring professional studio sound. Its behavior can be varied very nicely thanks to two compression curves. Many parameters are voltage controllable, making it possible to create exceptionally lively results. Legend has it that the VC-FCS, Cwejman’s first stereo compressor, is not only used by demanding modular enthusiasts, but as a mastering tool in some professional studios as well. The VC-SC is the successor of this mythical dynamic processor. Thanks to 1/8 inch and 1/4 inch inputs and outputs, the module is at home in any production setup. In terms of parameters, the VC-SC leaves nothing to be desired. There are potentiometers for setting ratio, threshold, attack and release behavior as well as make-up gain. Many parameters are voltage controllable. LED meters with eight-stages each visualize compression processes and output levels. The side chain channel may be broken using send and return connectors. A high-pass or low-pass filter can be inserted via a switch. – But that’s not all! Another switch allows you to choose either an optical or a VCA knee characteristic. – A clever idea to make the already flexible VC-SC even more adaptable.
