Buchla Modular (4U)

Since 1962 the name Buchla has stood for explorative electronic musical instruments far removed from conservative sound design. The renunciation of conventional keyboards in the early years of Buchla, was particularly charming and required musical rethinking, which demanded less virtuosity and muscle memory than the imaginative and combinatorial ability of the user. And so we owe Buchla not only great sounding oscillators and Lopass Gates but also the concept of the sequencer. That and the non-linear behavior of the individual components of a Buchla system are the core elements of what is known as West-Coast synthesis.
