Buchla 223e Multi-Dimensional Kinesthetic Input & Tactile Input Port

The 223e comprises two components: first a three-panel wide multidimensional haptic controller with 27 pressure and partly position sensitive control surfaces and second the Tactile Input Port converting the controller's data to voltages and pulses. It is possible to define keyboard groups (read: a number of individual keyboards) and to manage them. An arpeggiator is included in the 223e as well. It is possible to create and manage user-defined groups - read: several independent keyboard sets. An arpeggiatior is included in the 223e as well.

The controller unit is the 222e Multi-Dimensional Kinesthetic Input Port, a sort of unique keyboard with 27 contact pads. 12 of them react on position in one dimension (the elongated pads L, M, N, O, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X and Y), two in two dimensions (the hexagonal pads R and S). The pads are very prssusre sensitive, ranging from featherweight to very hard pressure. Using the 223e Tactile Input Port's "radio outs" you can freely group the pads to small individual keyboards, assign a dedicated output voltage per touchpad (micro tonality!) and also output pressure CV, position CV and a pulse per pad. The outputs R and S for the corresponding pads carry CVs for the left/right position and the up/down position. Pulse outputs 1-5 can be assigned to certain pads. The CV outputs 10-14 can be programmed and provide either position, pressure or impact

In the upper part of the 223e module we will not only find the programming unit but also an arpeggiator that can be synchronized to an internal or external clock, featuring a number of running directions, transposition and much more.
