Buchla - 208C
- Order number: 190527
In principle, the 208C offers the same synthesis architecture as Buchlas Easel. However, it is a compact module and there are even some new features waiting to be discovered.
The Buchla Music Easel is a true synthesizer legend. As a counter design to the Minimoog, the Music Easel offered a similar portable concept, yet with a completely different feature set. The 208C is basically a Music Easel, but without the keyboard in module format and therefore much more compact. Build it into a case of your choice and bring all the Easel voice to your 200e system.
Included are THE intuitive 5-step sequencer, an ASD envelope, the pulser, two oscillators, the white random outputs and a dual lowpass gate. In addition, there are some utilities on board and the spring reverb, which is famous in itself.
With the Program Interface the functionality of the 208C can be extended immensely!
New features compared to the previous 208C:
- Optional MIDI input (USB B/DIN)
- 2 1/4″ Audio outputs
- 3.5mm 1v/oct input
- 5 additional audio inputs and outputs (oscillators, gates, FM input)
- 5 additional banana inputs and outputs with switches for different parameter assignment
- White noise is generated when aux is not used
- More logical arrangement of the top row
- LED for power and control mode
- Pulser has single pulse switch and mode selection
- Modulation oscillator is green for better differentiation
- The printed oscillator frequency scales are now more accurate and the faders are trimmable
- Gate 1 input can lower gate level
- Everything on one circuit board, for easier installation and removal
- Standard connector for the iProgramCard
- True stereo!

208C @Buchla
Pioneering synthesizer design since the mid 1960s with Morton Subotnick and the San Francisco Tape Center, Don Buchla has been responsible for the invention of the sequencer, low pass gate, random voltage generators and the complex oscillator, among others. Shortly before his passing in 2016, his rights were acquired by Australian holding company BEMI (2012-2017) and since 2018 is operated by Eric Fox of Buchla USA, based in Minnesota. Buchla USA offers the whole 200e series catalog and boats, as well as the iconic Music Easel.
