Unlike other compressor modules on the market this one is #1 stereo and #2 DSP-based. It can be used as a mono compressor, as stereo compressor or in a side chain mode. This module's code is known from some Audio Damage plug-ins like the Rough Rider, Kombinat Diva and more and is now available as hardware.
The Kompressor module has four parameters, all of which can be modulated with CVs in arange of +/-5V
The THRESHOLD parameter sets the level from which on the compressor will start to work. This threshold is in a range of -60dB to 0dB.
The compression strength is determined with the RATIO parameter, from a ratio of 1:1 full counterclockwise over 10:1 in 12h-position to infinite-to-one fully clockwise.
How fast the compressor responds, that is adjusted with the SPEED potentiometers, controlling the attack and release time simultaneously. Fully counterclockwise the attack is 5ms and release is 50ms while fully clockwise the attack is ~50ms and the release 500ms.
As the compression reduces the overall signal level it is necessary to compensate it with the MAKEUP gain parameter, from 0dB to +30dB.
The module has two modes: in L/R mode it is a true stereo compressor. In M/SC mode it is a mono compressor with side chain. The side chain will be activated only when a cable is inserted to the right input. The right output acts like a thru and carries the side chain signal.
