The MMx2 is an unusual product in the sense that you receive two identical modules! These are versatile 4-in-1 CV mixers that can be transformed into a matrix mixer when chained.
Why do you get two in a package? Because it makes sense! Chaining the two (or more) units gives you a versatile matrix mixer when you need one. Using them separately gives you two mixers with many special features. Each unit has two channels with dedicated attenuators and two channels with attenuverters and an overall gain factor of 2 at the amplified output. Additionally, channel 4 is normalled to a voltage reference, so you can offset the output. When these mixers are chained, inputs 1, 2, and 3 are normalled to the subsequent module, allowing the creation of a comprehensive matrix mixer setup.
The MMx2 comes with a detailed manual full of patch ideas. For example, how to invert the state of a filter, turning a low-pass-filter into a high-pass-filter, or a band-pass-filter into a notch- filter.
