The ASM Hydrasynth Desktop offers the same sound engine as the keyboard version in a compact form.
Despite its compact dimensions, the desktop version of the digital hybrid synth plays in the same league as its larger relatives and also comes with CV/Gate support.
With its digital wavemorphing architecture somewhere between Vector and Wavetable, the eight-voice synth inspires with its versatile and expressive sound and the multiple possibilities to shape it. The concept is reminiscent of legends like Oberheim Xpander/Matrix 12.
The flexible sound engine is the dream of every sound designer and musician. Sonically designed for maximum flexibility, the user interface is at the same time designed to edit patches quickly with a minimum of page turns and many workflow shortcuts.
In terms of performance capabilities, the Hydrasynth Desktop features 24 polyphonic pressure touchpads, allowing the unit to be played without the need for a keyboard or other controller. With multiple pad layout modes as well as quickly accessible scale modes, the Hydrasynth Desktop is therefore comfortable to make music with.
The extensively populated oscillator section is also exceptional. For example, extremely flexible "mutants" can mysteriously provide sound deformations reminiscent of FM, sync, PWM or similar sounds. Two flexible filters (including SEM functionality), five(!) LFOs and envelopes each, as well as a flexible effects unit along with MPE options within a 32-fold matrix complete the extremely compact Hydrasynth Desktop. It cannot run over water, but CV/Gate-Out functionality and battery operation are possible.
The Hydrasynth Desktop comes with rack ears and will fit in a standard 19" rack.
