Alfa Delta's Dionisi is a Wildly Deep 6 Oscillator Digital Module With Extensive Modulation Possibilities Uncommon in a Unit of This Size.
Alfa Delta's Dionisi is a deep module that's built around six digital oscillators with comprehensive CV control. This thing manages to pack an entire synthesizer's worth of modulation possibilities into a single humble Eurorack module — when we say deep, we mean deep.
Dionisi is based around six independent oscillators that can function both as sound sources and modulation generators. Each oscillator provides classic waveforms from sine to pulse, with a frequency range spanning from glacially slow modulations (0.00033 Hz) up to audio-rate territory (20 kHz). The digital architecture ensures rock-solid tracking across all 12 octaves.
Alright, over to the Dionisi's extensive modulation matrix — this sort of where the magic and depth begins. Any CV input or oscillator output can be routed to control exponential FM, linear FM (through-zero capable), phase modulation, or four-quadrant amplitude modulation. Each modulation path includes adjustable depth and index controls, allowing for subtle variations or extreme sound mangling. This matrix approach turns the module into a powerful FM synthesizer, capable of everything from gentle bell tones to aggressive digital textures. You know, textbook FM sounds that never seem to fall out of fashion — and — that's a textbook we love btw..!
If we look at the interface, Dionisi uses a clear OLED display with dedicated encoders and buttons for easy quick parameter access. The interface strikes a nice balance — complex enough to enable deep sound design but organized in a way that prevents option paralysis.
Two built-in mixers expand the module's flexibility even further, each with six assignable inputs that can handle both audio and CV signals. This mixing capability, combined with the quantizer's various musical scales (from equal temperament to Just, Pythagoras, dim5, Mean tone, Harmonic series etc..), makes Dionisi equally suited for melodic sequences and experimental drones or whatever you choose to do with it. .
MIDI integration is naturally also present in a beast like this one. You get note input, velocity, aftertouch and CC control all available as modulation sources. A clever "learn" mode streamlines the process of assigning MIDI controllers to parameters. Again, just to re-iterate what we said at the start, this thing is deep! Flick through the manual and look at some videos first to better grasp what this beast of a module truly is capable of.
