Two CV-controlled four-channel mixers in 4U Buchla format on a panel by 1979
Nineteen Seventy Nine is a relatively young manufacturer from the USA. Their product range focuses on modules in Buchla format. Most of them are more or less modified versions of Mutabe Intsruments classics like: Braids, Clouds, Rings, Elements. But also own creations like CV-controlled mixers for the Buchla format are part of the assortment.
DVCM or Dual Voltage Controlled Mixer combines two CV-controlled four-channel mixers with convenient normalization on one panel. The circuit was designed around the SSI2164 VCA-IC and provides PRE and POST outputs for each submix. The POST output can boost the incoming signal by up to 9.5 dB, which is useful to convert with other studio equipment and Eurorack modules. Each submix also features a VCA with inverting attenuator for the sum (quite handy for ducking effects).
